Nancy Jankleson, Epicure Manager Nancy's Favorite
Product I first became
involved with Epicure in early 2006 when Cheryl and Duncan asked me to
help them open their store. I was more then excited as it's been
a long time dream for me. My
love for cooking is from a wonderful mother who always made dinner
from scratch. Mom never used any of that low-fat or non-fat
stuff, it was full fat and flavor for us! My
favorite time of year to cook is probably the fall. Making a big
pot of stew or chili that my husband and I can eat on for a couple of
nights is great. I'm not one for leftovers, in fact, just ask my
husband. I have a two day limit! When it comes to the
hearty meals though I give in a little bit. My
favorite cooking magazine is Bon Appétit and my favorite cook books
are from the Seattle Junior League. While it was much easier to
cook dinner after getting off work at noon while being a barista
(don't forget that meant I was up at 4 am!), I am a bit challenged
with working at Epicure and not getting off work until 5:30. I
still try to have our dinner on the table by 7:30 though. I just
have to be a little more creative but mostly organized. I
hope you find Epicure not just a store with almost as many item
numbers as Costco (no joke!) but a place where you find a warm
and friendly staff who loves sharing ideas and suggestions, we truly
have a passion for cooking!
Erin Swortz, Epicurean Erin's
Favorite Product Hi, It's Erin. I'm a life-long resident of Skagit County and currently live in Bayview on 10 acres, adjacent to Nancy. I have huge vegetable and herb gardens and thrive on creating new recipes in the summer when vegetables are abundant. (Which is code for, I throw a lot of vegetables together and call it dinner- my kids love that.) Nancy mentioned the planning of Epicure about two years ago at a neighborhood party and I couldn't wait. I'm as excited about the prospect of the cooking classes as the rest of you because I'm passionate about food and cooking. My other passion is my four horses which I trail-ride and show around the state.
Linda Everton, Epicurean Linda's Favorite
Product HI! I am Linda, I have always loved to cook,
probably because my Mother does not. I have been inspired by two
grandmothers and an aunt who were/are fabulous cooks! A meal with them was
always a delicious, fun family gathering, not just a way to fill your
stomach. I have a degree in nutrition and always strive to serve healthy,
well balanced, colorful meals. I want my kids to want to come hoe
from college so I try to create meals they will remember and appreciate
when they are in their dorms! I also tend to be an impulse buyer for my
kitchen. My husband is worse then I am so what better way to support our
habit than to work with good friends at Epicure!

Product I grew up in a family that cooked together. Sunday dinner was a big family affair and was usually at our house. Mom, Dad and my Grandmother were the main cooks. I can still remember the fried chicken and homemade biscuits...but, alas, thats another story. As I grew up I became involved with organizations such as Rotary where I was always "volunteered" to head up the BBQ committee or some fund raising dinner in our small town. After retiring from 35 years of banking and moving to Anacortes I had the opportunity to work part time at a kitchen and wine shop in Everett until gas prices forced me to give it up and low and behold I saw a sign in a local window that said "coming soon...Epicure, a shop for the passionate cook. After knocking at the door and meeting Cheryl and Nancy I pleaded to join the staff and here I am.... Paul
